Young Joon Park

Hey internet, I’m Young Joon Park and I’m extremely against vaccination. I believe that vaccinations should be a choice for the people. People have their own religious and personal beliefs on vaccinations. When I applied for high school, one of the first things that I had to turn in for my application was my medical history. They would not let me go to their High School unless I received my vaccination. I was mindblown by the fact that students who oppose vaccination are not allowed to go the that school. Research shows that there are unknown toxins in vaccines and we are injecting them into people. That doesn’t sound friendly nor healthy. People actually suffer from vaccines and even die from them. Why should we be forced to inject ourselves with unknown substances when we know that it could potentially kill us? It should be our basic human rights to choose to be vaccinated. If more and more people begin to suffer from vaccination, people will be aware of this problem but why act then when we can save people’s lives now. Don’t you guys agree? Do you guys want to suffer and ultimately pass away? We need to stand up and act now before it’s too late. People are suffering from vaccination and we have an obligation to end that today.

My personal opinion about vaccinations are that they should not be forced upon people. I think that people should at least be able to decide if they should take vaccinations or not, which was the previous way that it was. However, because of a new law in California that requires everyone to take a vaccine, it is no longer a choice. People are now not allowed to have religious or cultural exemptions from vaccines. This goes against the moral codes of individuals and also fights against our Constitution and our rights. The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects your right to the freedom of religion and speech.  Vaccinations go against this right in all aspects. Forcing vaccinations makes people go against their religion, breaking the first part of the First Amendment. Doctors do not allow you to go against this, getting rid of your right to the freedom of speech. Another reason why vaccinations should not be necessary is because of the harmful, toxic, and dangerous materials in them. Elements such as mercury are extremely poisonous to the human body but are still included in vaccines. Many people have doubts about these materials and may not want to take them. However, they have no choice but to have these injected into them because people of higher status demand that they must. I believe that if someone does not want toxic materials or materials that are considered “evil” or “anti-religious”, then they should not be forced to have to take them into their body. In all, I think that forcing people to take immunization shots against their will is immoral and illegal. Goodnight!!

Hi, everyone. This is Judy Yang. I wanted to talk about vaccination today! I think that vaccination should be required to everyone entering schools. School should be a safe place to stay for the students and the faculties. Although it would seem like a tedious task to vaccinate everyone, once it is done, it will benefit everyone as it would create a safer condition. This was a very interesting topic for me, because i had never really considered the topic before. After engaging in numerous researches and analyzing the pros and cons for each perspective, I decided to support for the pro side.  I discovered that over 95 percent average in all states got vaccinated, which Ii think is a pretty high percentage. But, epidemics still spread and prevail among schools creating fatal results. Thus, this demonstrates that average 3 percent or lower rates are responsible for spreading the epidemics. If everything falls into an uncontrollable, catastrophic state because of the people in 3  percentages, I would say they are selfish. They say they have their own beliefs, asserting that vaccinations go against their beliefs. But if it affects the other people negatively, I think there needs to be a change. Overall, it was a very valuable experience to logically think over what would be beneficial for everyone, not for the individual. What do you guys think? Please tell me your opinions. I would love to hear them! Now go get your shots, before it’s too late… Bye bye citizens! :)

Forced vaccinations was a kind of difficult topic to accomplish, so I decided to challenge myself. My goals lengthened and soon I was paging layouts on a new blog site, writing articles, and researching all kinds of new information. Another reason I felt like I needed to do this topic was because it was very important. I a attend public school, and who knows? Probably the bill could end up by being legalized and soon we would have vaccines in our schools. It was difficult yet interesting to work on a topic that was reasonable for both pro and con sides. However, in my personal belief, I wanted to stay on the con side. I decided that I would still stay was because lives were lost. Parents were upset and angry. This included children’s beliefs of religion. Also, scientists have proven that vaccines contain dangerous chemicals. So I believe, (in my opinion!) that the con side is reasonable for me. The process of writing the article was like an agenda. My partner and I always had to plan first before researching, writing, and pitching. It was a journey, but I had fun, incredible, and adventurous time working together as a team. I personally think that Yae-Jin and I tried our best. We were awfully worried when we were writing the article. But with teamwork and peaceful communication, we managed to complete the draft. Writing is my hobby, but one of my other special hobby is making friends and having strong bonds. And Korean Daily Leadership Camp had taught me that special hobby.

Vaccinations are easy and fast ways to prevent diseases from spreading in public places such as schools. With vaccinations, even a common cold can be prevented. Not only are vaccinations effective, but it is safe and can protect the future generations of families. Vaccinations save time, money, and loved ones. Vaccinations are also one of the greatest health developments of the 20th century. The number of people getting diseases has decreased immensely in the United States since vaccination has been introduced. But due to many religious beliefs, some people have made the decision to not get vaccinated. A law has been signed recently which forces people to get vaccinated. I believe that although getting vaccinated is a good idea and can save your life later on, people should have a decision to vaccination. It’s important to respect other religions and the force of vaccination can violate that respect. On another note, the people who have decide to get vaccinated can protect their lives in the long run and organizations such as The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention all strongly support the use of vaccinations. Also, I’ve been vaccinated before and have avoided flus and other kinds of diseases, and therefore support the use of vaccination. I also respect the decision of others rejecting the idea of vaccination because it is a choice. Vaccines can be between life and death but it all goes down to the person. Being vaccinated should be a respectable choice and should not be forced upon by law. In conclusion, becoming vaccinated is a strong factor in a healthy life but should be choice that everyone can choose to say yes or no to.

Vaccines are beneficial to many people because they help stop diseases from becoming an epidemic. Personally I have been vaccinated many times and have never been affected negatively. As I enter the 12th grade, I realize how important immunization is because there are over 2500 students at the school I attend. If nobody was vaccinated for a disease such as HPV and one person contracted it, the disease would spread like a wildfire. Vaccinations not only help individuals to resist illness, they also help populations from becoming ravenously infected by preventable diseases. History has proven that epidemics can happen out of nowhere. All the way from the 16th century with the black plague, up until today with the MERS epidemic, illnesses can spread fast and easily. With vaccines however, people have been able to resist possibly life threatening diseases such as smallpox and polio. The idea that all students must be vaccinated in order to attend public school is effective in stopping massive spreading of diseases because everybody will be immune to spreadable illnesses. Recently Governor Brown announced that he would push for legislation for stricter vaccination laws in public schools. These laws would forbid students from becoming exempt of vaccinations because of religion or other moral values. I believe that Governor Brown's legislation is good for the population of California and also that vaccinations have nothing but benefits for everybody.

Although I enthusiastically chose the anti-vaccination perspective, I learned that was an ignorant choice. After some deeper research, as harsh as it sounds, sometimes common welfare is more important than individual rights. I agree with Min Woo that from a rational point of view, it is ridiculous to put so many in potential harm because of personal beliefs. Sorry Young Joon. Also, statistically, the deaths from vaccinations is incredibly rare, one in a million chance. Our article was pretty difficult to write because we lacked much evidence and research in favor of our position. But it was fun to be forced to think outside of the box despite the stress it brought on. Ugh. Emotionally, I would be furious if I were forced to give my kid potentially life-threatening shots to prevent potential illnesses that aren't even as life-threatening in this day and age. However, the chances are insanely, ridiculously low. "It's my luck," quoting my daddy. Anyhoo, it seems a bit selfish to put others in harm because of what you believe in. I strongly support people with strong opinions but when your opinions harm others, that is where my problem lies. It also seems silly to not take preventive measures when possible.
